BIOSTAR-PACK - On demand BIOdegradable STARrch-derived composites for PACKaging

2021-2024
BIOSTAR-PACK project aims to reduce the impact of food waste on Italian families and society by promoting the reuse and valorization of organic wastes in the development of a new packaging material, recyclable and able to ensure a longer shelf life to food. In detail, BIOSTAR-PACK will prepare transparent composites characterized by high barrier towards oxygen and humidity employing as raw materials starch and mineral fillers. Starch will be obtained from organic wastes and it will be suitably modified for the development of light-triggered biodegradable composites for food packaging applications.
