Lab-on-a-chip

The domain of Lab on a Chip (LOCs) encompasses a wide range of devices, materials, and technologies. The group's activities in this area involve both the development and fabrication of devices, or customized prototypes on demand, as well as the application of LOCs for research purposes. In the latter case, the work is primarily focused on three distinct lines of research:

  • The study and development of effective technologies for the early detection of cancer biomarkers.
  • The development of platforms for cell culture, to which biosensors may be attached for applications in barrier cell models, organ-on-a-chip, and organoids.
  • Lab-on-a-chip for diagnostics and the implementation of integrated systems for result detection.
We firmly believe that one of the Group’s strengths lies in the transdisciplinary approach that stems from active collaboration between experts from different fields, crucial for achieving results in both research and technological transfer.
